History of Us is a course taught at the secondary level that unapologetically explores the trials, tribulations and triumphs of African Americans. Taught at Central High School, students enrolled in the class are exposed to a plethora of hidden histories; specifically within the city of Tuscaloosa, AL.
The Civil Rights Movement, Jim Crow Era, Reconstruction Era and modern-day slavery in the form of mass incarceration are a few of the topics and themes students initially cover and further discuss.
